Finished! I actually finished something for once!
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind X Pokémon.
This was a great learning experience, first time I’ve painted a background with no outline too, which for me is much harder than it sounds.
I really really want to do Porco Rosso next. Stay Tuned!
Big guy was getting lonely, and I needed some indication of scale in the piece. Before I felt that there might be some confusion between the size of the Venipede/Ohmu and Nausicaa. So say hello to the Yanmega insects!
I should have this done tomorrow, already made a start on the final background workover.
It’s shaping up now, I feel. Almost there!
Edit: Removed the animation for neatness. Ill post one when I’m finished.
Progress for tonight. I tried something different here, a kind of fake watercolour style. I actually think it worked out pretty well, I’m leaning towards keeping it this style. No idea how I’m going to tackle the background though.
Here’s both styles, and an animated gif that cycles between the two.
Work in progress two. Basic cel shading. I think I need to blend the colours a little more.
Feels good to be drawing again, when 2 hours fly by and you don’t even notice.
Work in progress. Pokémon x Studio Ghibli. “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind” seems so right for this kind of crossover.
Can’t wait to finish it up. Thinking of doing a whole Pokémon x Studio Ghibli project thing.
